Cheng Lian

Cheng Lian is a Master Signature Artist and board Member of the National Oil & Acrylic Painters’ Society, a Signature Artist of the Oil Painters of America and a Signature Envoy of the California Plein Air Painters.  He has won numerous awards throughout the United States, and has taught many workshops.  He is an excellent artist in all genres, and is especially noted for his portrait work.

Cheng will be demonstrating his portrait painting technique from a live model.  Different than painting from a photo, painting from a live model is more exciting, more challenging, more lively and filled with surprises.  It allows the artist to paint with both emotion and skill to catch the first impression of your subject and transform it onto the canvas, while following your heart and instinct.

J Russell Wells

J. Russell Wells is a nationally known awarded artist residing in the suburbs of Chicago.  He received his initial training in university as a printmaker in intaglio and lithography.  The university system was focused on abstract expressionism and performance art was just taking hold, neither of which was attractive to J. Russell. But what the university did teach him was to freely experiment and that there are no rules one must follow.  What it failed to teach was the fundamentals of art which J. Russell learned by taking workshops with many successful artists around the country.

J. Russell Wells is a Signature Member of NOAPS, OPA and AIS.  He is represented by R. S. Hanna Gallery in Fredericksburg, TX
