Judge Statement about the selection of the awards for this exhibit:
"What an honor and privilege to be the awards juror for an exhibit of such talented artists. It was by far one of the most challenging shows I've ever judged. Technical issues were few with the paintings; my criteria instead was a strong composition, whether the painting jumped out at me and drew me in, making me go back to it time after time, whether it conveyed a message to me or involved me emotionally, and how well the artist controlled my eyes moving around the painting. I picked many of the award winners because their paintings were not predictable - they were unique and came from a unique idea. I applaud all of you for entering the show and for such excellent execution of your vision. Every painting had its own merits, which made it difficult for me, since I wish I could have given every one of them an award."- Cecy Turner, NOAPS
