Mr. Gyurcsak holds a BFA from The School of Visual Arts, New York, 1986, and has had the opportunity to study with some of America's finest contemporary artists and illustrators including, Alex Gnidziejko, Braldt Bralds, Michael Deas, Nelson Shanks and Stephen Kennedy. Inspired by 19th century impressionist and naturalist painters, he continues to study the works and techniques of George Inness, Willard Metcalf, Edgar Payne, John Singer Sargent, Joaquín Sorolla, and the early American Impressionists.
A highly motivated and focused individual, Joseph is a seasoned teacher and workshop instructor for over 15 years. In addition to his painting career, Joseph is the resident artist fors resident artist for Utrecht Art Supply, where he is responsible for managing all technical aspects of artists' materials and conducting lectures/painting workshops throughout the United States. He is an art materials expert assisting artists, company, and industry manufacuters on all aspects of materials and techniques.
Joseph travels extensively conducting lectures and painting demonstrations at major art institutions throughout the United States. A partial list includes: F.I.T., NYC; S.V.A., NYC; R.I.S.D, RI.; A.S.U., Tempe AZ; National Academy of Design, NYC; School of the Art Institute of Chicago; and Miami International University of Art and Design.
